The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, participated in the 2nd MIKTA Leaders’ Gathering held on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Monday, November 18, 2024. The meeting, organized by Mexico as the Chair of MIKTA 2024, took place in one of the rooms at the Museum of Modern Art (MAM), Rio de Janeiro.
The Leaders’ Gathering took place in an informal atmosphere, starting with a brief greeting session among the MIKTA leaders, representing Mexico, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Turkey, and Australia. This was followed by a group photo session, symbolizing the unity and solidarity among MIKTA member states.
The group photo of MIKTA leaders marked another significant moment, as it was the second time MIKTA leaders convened on the sidelines of the G20 Summit. The first group photo session took place during the G20 Summit in Bali in 2022, followed by the inaugural Leaders’ Gathering during Indonesia’s chairmanship in New Delhi in 2023.
The MIKTA meeting at the G20 Summit in Brazil reaffirmed the forum’s role as a platform for consultations aimed at fostering inclusive and responsive cooperation on global issues. During the gathering, the leaders emphasized the importance of strengthening inter-member relationships in addressing global challenges.
Leaders present at the meeting included Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk-yeol, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. (BPMI Setpres/ABD)
