Jakarta – The Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK), Suhartoyo, inaugurated 745 members of the Task Force for Dispute Resolution of the 2024 Local Election Results. He reminded the newly appointed officers to maintain integrity. The inauguration was held in the yard of the Constitutional Court Building on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta, on Monday (25/11/2024). The ceremony began with the reading of Decree Number 439 of 2024 by the Secretary General of the Constitutional Court concerning the Task Force for Handling Cases of Dispute over the Election Results of Governors, Regents, and Mayors in 2024. Suhartoyo then led the oath-taking ceremony attended by the members of the 2024 Local Election Dispute Task Force. “I swear that I will be faithful and obedient to Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution and will carry out all regulations as honestly as possible for my service to the nation and state. I swear not to accept, directly or indirectly, any promise or gift in any form from anyone which is presumed or reasonably suspected to be related directly or indirectly to my position,” recited Suhartoyo followed by the Task Force officers. “I swear to keep confidential anything that by its nature or by command must be kept secret. I swear to uphold integrity, discipline, dedication, and professionalism and not to abuse authority or engage in reprehensible conduct. I swear to work orderly, diligently, cleanly, and enthusiastically for the interest of the nation and state,” he continued. After the ceremony, Suharyoto reminded the officers to adhere to the oath they had taken. He emphasized that the officers handling the election disputes must maintain their integrity. “I hope that what was pronounced at the moment of the oath-taking becomes an inseparable part in all of you maintaining a commitment to integrity, including loyalty and dedication to the institution and to this nation and state, which obviously becomes a national event and a shared national responsibility, but specifically for the Constitutional Court,” he stated. He mentioned that the MK did not make special preparations ahead of the 2024 Local Elections. Suhartoyo predicted that there would be about 300 cases of election result disputes that would come before the MK. “We cannot predict, but if the last legislative election was predicted around more than 300, it turned out to be just 300. Now the prediction is also about more than 300. It might be more, could be less. But it depends also on the trust with the MK. It’s also a matter of trust,” he said.
