Jakarta – The Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) is ready to assist in providing land to support the construction of 3 million houses under the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PKP).

This was conveyed by the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN, Nusron Wahid, directly to the Minister of PKP, Maruarar Sirait, during a meeting held at the ATR/BPN office on Tuesday (November 5). Nusron revealed that the Ministry of ATR/BPN has abandoned land originating from former Land Use Rights (HGU) with a total area of 1.3 million hectares.

“This is what can be followed up in the near future, located in Mojokerto covering 151 hectares and in Tangerang covering 6 hectares. However, it will be further examined in detail to see if it is suitable or not. We cannot announce the exact number yet as the team is still working,” said Nusron in a written statement on Wednesday (November 6, 2024).

In this meeting, Nusron expressed his commitment to work together with the Ministry of PKP to organize the spatial planning of housing and residential areas. This refers to Law No. 26 of 2007 on Spatial Planning, which stipulates that every housing and residential area must provide 40% of public facilities (fasum) and social facilities (fasos), such as mosques, playgrounds, sports facilities, and others.

“We will propose the establishment of a joint task force to regulate spatial planning, especially in residential and housing areas. The system and working patterns are still awaiting our report to the President. We do not want to preempt the President’s directives, but that’s roughly the idea,” Nusron added.

During the meeting, Minister of PKP Maruarar Sirait expressed his gratitude for the support provided by Minister Nusron in the construction of the 3 million houses aimed at low-income people.

“I am very grateful to Pak Nusron for his help. Even before we arrived, Pak Nusron had already prepared land that is available and free from issues. Of course, we will prioritize this for the common people, and later we will determine the scheme for those in need,” said Minister Maruarar Sirait.

“And Pak Nusron mentioned that the land certificates can be used as collateral for bank loans. We also aim to ensure that the settlements are orderly, how housing in Indonesia and other residential areas should be open, not exclusive, and truly beneficial for the people of Indonesia,” he continued.

The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of ATR/Deputy Head of BPN, Ossy Dermawan; Deputy Minister of PKP, Fahri Hamzah; senior officials from the Ministry of ATR/BPN; and senior officials from the Ministry of PKP, along with their teams.
