Jakarta – Jabodebek LRT plans to add 4 trainsets in 2025, aligning with its goal of increasing daily ridership to 120,000 passengers.
Jabodebek LRT Public Relations Manager Mahendro Trang Bawono stated that the current average daily ridership of Jabodebek LRT is 85,000 passengers. He mentioned that with the addition of 4 trainsets, the total fleet will increase to 24 trainsets.
“The target for next year is 120,000 passengers. Currently, we’ve reached 85,000. We are optimistic this target can be achieved next year, especially with the addition of four more trainsets,” Mahendro said during an event at Ayana Midplaza Jakarta on Thursday (November 28, 2024).
Hendro, as he is commonly called, explained that the addition of trainsets would be carried out gradually. Two trainsets will begin operation in the first quarter of 2025, while the remaining two will be operational in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Mahendro projected that the introduction of two trainsets at the beginning of the year would increase the daily passenger count to 100,000.
“Then in the fourth quarter, another two trainsets will be added, allowing us to achieve the target by the end of 2025. That’s our projection,” he explained.
He clarified that the trainsets scheduled for operation next year are not new. According to Mahendro, a total of 31 trainsets are already available, out of which 11 are yet to be deployed.
“The trainsets are already available. Out of 31 trainsets, we’ve only operated 20. So, there are still 11 spare trainsets,” Hendro concluded.
