Jakarta – Lion Group has implemented a new policy regarding the size and type of baggage eligible for free baggage allowance (FBA). What are the details?
Lion Group has taken this step to enhance comfort and safety during travel for all its customers. The types of baggage included in the FBA have specific criteria, one of which is travel luggage.
“Types of baggage included in the free baggage allowance consist of traveling bags and luggage, sports equipment, medical equipment, musical instruments, and other baggage not exceeding dimensions of 35x35x30 centimeters,” said Lion Group Corporate Communications Strategic Danang Mandala Prihantoro in a statement on Thursday (November 28, 2024).
Certain baggage categories are excluded from the FBA policy, such as cardboard boxes, styrofoam containers, wooden pallets, container boxes, and sack-shaped baggage.
If a passenger’s baggage falls into one of these categories and exceeds the size or weight specified by Lion Group, an excess baggage ticket (EBT) fee will be applied during check-in starting December 1 of this year.
A minimum payment of 5 kilograms will apply, or customers can opt to ship their items through a cargo service before the flight departure date.
However, Lion Group allows customers to bring baggage without incurring additional costs, provided it adheres to the applicable regulations. Danang explained the baggage terms:
1. Checked Baggage
“Checked baggage refers to items handed over at the check-in counter to be placed in the aircraft’s cargo hold,” Danang said.
For checked baggage, Danang outlined additional regulations depending on the aircraft used for the flight:
- Jet aircraft: A maximum weight of 15 kilograms or 20 kilograms for economy class and 30 kilograms for business class, depending on the flight route.
- Propeller aircraft: No free checked baggage allowance (0 kilograms) for single-sector flights served by propeller aircraft.
2. Cabin Baggage
“Cabin baggage refers to items brought into the aircraft cabin with a maximum weight of 7 kilograms and dimensions not exceeding 40x30x20 centimeters,” Danang continued.
He also reminded passengers that items using cardboard boxes, styrofoam containers, wooden pallets, container boxes, or sacks could be placed in baggage, provided they fall within the allowable weight and size limits. If they exceed these limits, additional fees will apply as excess baggage.
