Badung – A woman from Brazil, identified as AGA, who worked as a lawyer in her home country, became a sex worker (PSK) in Bali. She was paid IDR 7.8 million for each sex act with a customer.

The 34-year-old woman was deported by officers from Denpasar’s Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) on Thursday, November 28, 2024. AGA was escorted by Rudenim officers and deported through Ngurah Rai International Airport.

“The violation of visa regulations and involvement in illegal activities, such as prostitution, cannot be tolerated,” said Gede Dudy Duwita, the Head of Rudenim Denpasar, in a press release on Friday (November 29, 2024).

The Brazilian national initially entered Indonesia on October 25, 2024, through Ngurah Rai International Airport. AGA entered the country on a 30-day tourist visa to vacation on the island of Bali.

Before arriving in Indonesia, AGA worked as a lawyer in Brazil. She had been pursuing this profession to support her livelihood in her home country.

However, AGA was eventually arrested at a villa in Seminyak, Kuta District, Badung, on November 13, 2024, for allegedly being involved in prostitution. Immigration officers seized AGA’s passport, contraceptives, and Australian dollar and Euro banknotes during the arrest.

The arrest was based on intelligence gathered by the Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement Division (Inteldakim) of Ngurah Rai Immigration Office. Officers first detected suspicious activity through digital communications.

During questioning, AGA admitted to engaging in prostitution to cover her living expenses in Bali. She also acknowledged receiving IDR 7.8 million for each encounter with a customer.

Communication regarding these encounters was conducted via WhatsApp (WA) with a man from Singapore, whom AGA did not know personally.

Ngurah Rai Immigration stated that AGA violated Article 75 (1) of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration. However, due to delays in the deportation process, AGA was handed over to Rudenim Denpasar on November 19, 2024, for deportation processing. AGA was finally deported on November 28, 2024.

Pramella Yunidar Pasaribu, the Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, emphasized that this action is part of the routine efforts by immigration authorities to protect the public and maintain public order.

“We are committed to keeping Bali safe and orderly. We will not hesitate to take firm action against any immigration law violations,” said Pramella.
