President Prabowo Subianto chaired a limited meeting (ratas) that focused on accelerating investment in Special Economic Zones (KEK) and the progress of National Strategic Projects (PSN) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. In his press statement, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto informed the media that President Prabowo had instructed his team to optimize the KEK, which has significantly contributed to the national economy.
According to Airlangga, by the third quarter of 2024, KEK had attracted investments amounting to IDR 242.5 trillion, with a total of 151,260 workers employed and 394 companies established. “The President’s directive is to continue to push, advance, and process these economic zones to attract investments, especially those resulting from the President’s recent overseas visits,” Airlangga stated.
In addition to KEK, the meeting also discussed the development of PSN. Airlangga explained that 18 projects are expected to be completed in 2024, while 30 other projects are targeted for completion in 2025. “Of course, these programs will be continued as directed by the President, and any additional investments will be discussed in more detail,” Airlangga said.
Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) emphasized the importance of inter-ministerial collaboration to oversee the 228 PSN projects and 24 KEK. He also appreciated the synergy between the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development in ensuring the sustainability and success of these priority programs.
“Certainly, what has been progressing well will continue, and we will ensure that it will soon bring tangible benefits for the public and the economy,” said AHY. “Hopefully, with the strong collaboration between these two ministries, we can produce successful projects, programs, and zones in the future,” he added.
This meeting reaffirmed President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to accelerating development and attracting more investments to enhance Indonesia’s economic competitiveness. KEK and PSN are also expected to be key drivers of inclusive and sustainable economic growth. (BPMI Setpres/ABD)
