Anies Baswedan and Ganjar Pranowo have expressed their hopes for the Jakarta gubernatorial and vice gubernatorial candidates, Pramono Anung and Rano Karno, who are running on the 3rd ticket. They both wish for Jakarta to be better under the leadership of Pramono-Rano, especially in terms of urban management, comfort, security, and environmental issues.
Anies Calls for Policies Favoring Marginalized Communities
Anies Baswedan hopes that if Pramono-Rano wins the 2024 Jakarta gubernatorial election, they will create policies that prioritize marginalized and vulnerable communities.
“Support for those who are marginalized, the weak, the small, should be reflected in policies,” Anies said during a National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Indonesian Advocate Association (Ikadin) in Jimbaran, Badung, Bali, on Friday (29/11/2024).
According to Anies, the new governor of Jakarta must also promote a modern city development paradigm. He believes a progressive Jakarta is one where the city’s layout is comfortable, healthy, and prioritizes environmental concerns.
“Thirdly, equality and opportunities for everyone, so that the city can protect all people,” added the former Governor of Jakarta.
Anies explained that these points are just a few of the many tasks Pramono Anung and Rano Karno will need to address when leading Jakarta. “It’s all in the vision and mission, let them implement it,” he added.
Ganjar Says Pramono-Rano Are Experienced
Ganjar Pranowo, the General Secretary of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), mentioned that Pramono and Rano are experienced figures. He hopes their vote share remains stable and that they can win the Jakarta gubernatorial race in a single round.
“Bang Pram and Bang Rano are experienced people. Hopefully, this will lead to improvements and meet the expectations of the people of Jakarta and its surrounding areas,” Ganjar said.
Ganjar believes the quick count results so far reflect the absence of pressure from authorities on the 3rd ticket. He noted that this was key to the success of the PDI-P-backed candidates in several other regions.
“Of course, I remind everyone that when the forum is open and the authorities that have no business in it do not intervene, then, on average, we manage to win (the regional elections) in many places,” added the former Governor of Central Java.
Anies Responds to RIDO’s Prediction of Two-Round Election
Anies Baswedan responded to the belief of the Jakarta gubernatorial and vice gubernatorial candidates on the 1st ticket, Ridwan Kamil and Suswono (RIDO), that the 2024 Jakarta election would go to two rounds. Anies remarked that this was not like a weather forecast.
“This is not a weather forecast, just look at the data, look at the facts,” Anies said.
Anies is optimistic that victory is within reach for the Pramono-Rano pair. His optimism is based on current data showing that Pramono and Rano are ahead with 50.07% of the vote.
“Just look at the data, look at the KPU data,” Anies concluded.
