Jakarta – Alfamart and Indomaret are two of the largest minimarket chains in Indonesia. The competition between these two chains is visible in the presence of their retail outlets, which are often located side by side or even right next to each other. But between Indomaret and Alfamart, which chain is more successful?
According to the financial report of PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya as of June 2024, Alfamart currently has 19,638 outlets. This number consists of 14,369 owned outlets and 5,269 franchise outlets.
From this total number of outlets, Alfamart managed to record a net revenue of IDR 59.21 trillion. From this amount, the company reported an operating profit of IDR 2.31 trillion.
After accounting for other expenses, such as final tax and income tax expenses, Alfamart’s profit for the period was around IDR 1.86 trillion.
Meanwhile, Indomaret, which operates under PT Indomarco Prismatama, a company associated with PT Indoritel Makmur Internasional Tbk (DNET), reported a similarly impressive profit.
In the financial report of DNET as of June 2024, the parent company of Indomaret reported an operating profit of IDR 512.57 billion. After deducting various other expenses, Indoritel recorded a net profit for the period of IDR 464.47 billion.
Regarding investment in associated entities and joint ventures, DNET reported that PT Indomarco Prismatama, which operates Indomaret, achieved a net sales of IDR 55.07 trillion. From this figure, the company reported a net profit attributable to the parent company’s owners of IDR 1.06 trillion.
