Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto praised the role of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) for coordinating with the Ministry of Transportation on the policy that successfully reduced domestic flight ticket prices by 10%. This policy was implemented ahead of the 2025 Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holiday season.
Prabowo emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between lowering ticket prices and ensuring the health of the aviation industry. He stated that the government would ensure that this policy would not harm the aviation industry.
“We are committed to ensuring that this policy does not harm the aviation industry, while still providing maximum benefits for the public,” said Prabowo, quoted from the written statement by the Ministry of BUMN, on Tuesday (December 3, 2024).
With this policy, part of the 100-day agenda of Prabowo’s administration, it is hoped that the public will be able to enjoy the Christmas and New Year holidays at a more affordable price, and that it will increase public trust in the government’s management of the transportation and tourism sectors.
Meanwhile, the Minister of BUMN, Erick Thohir, expressed his readiness to support Prabowo’s vision to serve the public and make it easier for people to travel during the year-end holiday period. According to Erick, this policy came about as a result of strong synergy between the Ministry of BUMN and the Ministry of Transportation, with full support from Prabowo.
“We greatly appreciate President Prabowo’s direction and support in efforts to reduce flight ticket prices. This is a concrete step to help the public and promote the growth of national tourism,” said Erick.
