7 Toll Roads to be Free During the 2024/2025 Christmas and New Year Holiday Period

Jakarta – The Ministry of Public Works (PU) plans to operate seven toll road sections functionally, meaning they will be free, during the 2024/2025 Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holiday period. The total length of these seven toll sections is 120.4 kilometers (km).

Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo stated that the functional operation of these toll roads is expected to support the smooth flow of travelers during the Nataru holiday period.

“There are several temporary functional toll roads that will be opened to the public to support the smooth flow of travelers during the 2024-2025 Nataru. The total length of the functional toll roads is 120.4 km,” said Dody, in a meeting with Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday (4/12/2024).

Dody explained that the toll roads are located on the islands of Java and Sumatra. The breakdown includes 90.4 km of toll roads in Sumatra and 29.98 km in Java.

The functional toll roads in Java are as follows:

  1. Jakarta-Cikampek II Selatan Toll Road Section Kutanegara-Sadang,
  2. Solo-Yogyakarta Toll Road Section Kartosuro-Purwomartani for the Klaten-Prambanan segment,
  3. Probolinggo-Banyuwangi Toll Road Phase I (Probolinggo-Besuki), and
  4. Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi Parapat Toll Road Section Kuala Tanjung-IC Indrapura.

Meanwhile, in Sumatra, the functional toll roads include:
5. Sigli-Banda Aceh Toll Road Section 1 (Padang Tiji-Seulimeum),
6. Binjai-Langsa Toll Road Section 3 Tanjung Pura-Pangkalan Brandan, and
7. Pekanbaru-Padang Toll Road Section Padang-Sicincin.

Additionally, the Ministry of Public Works has also noted the addition of several operational toll road sections throughout 2024. A total of about 196 km of new toll roads will open in 2024, distributed across Java and Sumatra.

“To support the smooth flow of travelers during the Nataru holiday, the efforts made include the addition of 47.6 km of operational toll roads in Java in 2024,” said Dody.

Dody detailed that the new toll roads in Java include:

  • Cimanggis-Cibitung Toll Road Section 2B Cikeas-Cibitung (19.7 km),
  • Cibitung-Cilincing Toll Road Section Cibitung Junction (0.4 km),
  • Solo-Yogyakarta-Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) Kulon Progo Toll Road Section 1.1 Kartasura-Klaten (22.3 km),
  • Serpong-Balaraja Toll Road Section 1B Simpang Susun CBD-Simpang Susun Legok (5.3 km).

Meanwhile, in Sumatra, the total length of newly operational toll roads in 2024 will reach 149 km. The details include:

  • Indrapura-Kisaran Toll Road Section 2 Lima Puluh-Kisaran (32.6 km),
  • Pekanbaru-Padang Toll Road Section Bangkinang-Pangkalan Phase I (Bangkinang to Koto Kampar) (36.6 km),
  • Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat (Kutepat) Toll Road Section 3 (Tebing Tinggi Junction-Dolok Merawan Interchange and part of Section 4 (Dolok Merawan IC-Sinaksak IC) (45.6 km), and
  • Betung-Tempino-Jambi Toll Road Section 3 (Bayung Lencir-Tempino segment) (34.1 km).
