Indonesian Parliament Approves Five Elected KPK Leaders Today

Jakarta – The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) held a plenary session today to confirm the five newly elected leaders of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). These five leaders will be officially appointed.

“Yes, that’s correct (today’s plenary session),” said DPR Vice Chairman Adies Kadir to the press on Wednesday (4/12/2024).

The plenary session will take place in the Nusantara II Building of the MPR/DPR/DPD RI in Senayan, Central Jakarta. The session is scheduled to begin at 09:30 AM WIB.

As is known, Commission III of the DPR has appointed five elected leaders of the KPK. Setyo Budiyanto has been selected as the Chairman of KPK for the 2024-2029 period.

The appointment of the five KPK leaders and the five members of the KPK Supervisory Board (Dewas) took place in Commission III’s meeting room at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (21/11). The meeting was led by the Chairman of Commission III, Habiburokhman, along with other members of the commission and its members.

The appointment of the five KPK leaders was done through voting. The meeting was attended by dozens of members from all factions in Commission III of the DPR.

“A total of 44 out of 47 members of Commission III of the DPR attended, and all eight factions were present,” said Habiburokhman, opening the meeting.

Here are the five elected KPK leaders:

  1. Setyo Budiyanto (Inspector General, Ministry of Agriculture)
  2. Fitroh Rohcahyanto (Former Director of Prosecution at KPK)
  3. Ibnu Basuki Widodo (Judge at the High Court of Manado)
  4. Johanis Tanak (Deputy Chairman of KPK for the 2019-2024 period)
  5. Agus Joko Pramono (Deputy Chairman of BPK for the 2019-2023 period)

Commission III of the DPR also elected five individuals to serve as members of the KPK Supervisory Board (Dewas) for the 2024-2029 period. These five individuals come from various backgrounds, including prosecutors, judges, and private sectors. The elected members of the KPK Dewas will be sent to the President for a decision on who will serve as the Chairman of Dewas.

  2. Benny Jozua Mamoto
  3. Gusrizal
  4. Sumpeno
  5. Chisca Mirawati
