Sleman – Gus Miftah has resigned from his position as the Presidential Special Envoy today. While crying, Gus Miftah shared the reasons for his resignation.
The resignation was announced by Gus Miftah in Sleman. He emphasized that he had deeply reflected on his decision to step down.
“Today, with all humility and sincerity, and with full awareness, I want to announce a decision that I have deeply contemplated. I have decided to resign from my position as the Presidential Special Envoy for Interfaith Harmony and Religious Facility Development,” Gus Miftah said on Friday, December 6, 2024.
Gus Miftah appeared to be crying as he explained the reasons for his resignation. There was a moment when he seemed to struggle with his words while reading the resignation statement.
“I made this decision not because I was pressured by anyone, not because of anyone’s request, but because of my deep love, respect, and responsibility towards President Prabowo Subianto and the entire society,” he said.
Gus Miftah reiterated his statement regarding the reasons for his resignation. There was a moment when he sighed and choked up while reading the resignation letter.
“Once again, I repeat (sighs and then chokes up) that I made this decision not because I was pressured by anyone, not because of anyone’s request, but purely because of my love,” he said.
Previously, Gus Miftah attracted public attention after a video of him mocking Sunhaji, a tea seller from Magelang, went viral on social media. The sharp public criticism led Gus Miftah to personally apologize to Sunhaji at his home in Grabag, Magelang, on Wednesday, December 4.
The issue was resolved after Sunhaji forgave Gus Miftah. However, today, Gus Miftah became the focus again after an old video resurfaced.
In the video, Gus Miftah was seen insulting the senior artist Yati Pesek. Gus Miftah was accused of mocking her physical appearance and using inappropriate remarks towards Yati Pesek.
