Don’t Stick the myPertamina Barcode on Your Car, Absolutely Don’t!

Jakarta – The QR Code from the application should not be pasted carelessly. The QR Code you receive must be kept confidential.
A video went viral on social media showing a Pertamina gas station officer reminding vehicle owners not to stick barcodes on their car windows. The gas station officer mentioned that the myPertamina barcode on the car window could be misused by others when filling up their vehicle with fuel.
“Sir, if you get the barcode that is stuck here (on the car), just remove it, sir, because sometimes people want to take a photo and use it, so your quota will decrease.” Yesterday, there was an incident where our pickup scanned and it turned out to be a picture of a yellow Calya. “So just be careful, Sir,” said the gas station attendant, quoted from the Instagram account _thinksmart.id.
For your information, vehicles using Pertalite or subsidized diesel have indeed been asked to register themselves in order to continue purchasing those subsidized fuels. Once registered and having undergone the verification process, they will receive a barcode that can be used for purchasing Pertalite or subsidized diesel.
To make it easier when transacting to buy Pertalite or subsidized solar, the QR code can be printed and placed in a safe location. Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Heppy Wulansari, also reminded that barcodes should not be carelessly placed because they have the potential to be misused by others. “The placement of QR codes that are easily accessible to others has the potential to be misused, which can be dangerous due to the misuse of the QR code,” explained Heppy when contacted by detikOto, Tuesday (10/12/2024).
Heppy reminded vehicle owners to keep the QR Code they have received confidential. Even if printed, keep it in an inconspicuous place so it won’t be misused by others. “Consumers should maintain the confidentiality of their vehicle’s QR code and not share the QR Code with others to prevent misuse,” Heppy explained further.
For your information, the QR Code obtained by registering on the myPertamina website is used to record Pertalite and solar fuel transactions to ensure greater transparency. Pertamina, as the operator, has the obligation to record consumers and the volume of subsidized fuel transactions mandated by the regulator or BPH Migas.
