Jakarta – The exchange rate of the United States dollar (USD) strengthened against the rupiah at the opening of today’s trading. The Uncle Sam’s currency is still comfortable at the level of Rp 15,800 this morning.
Quoted from RTI data, Tuesday (12/11/2024), the exchange rate of the US dollar at 09:05 WIB was at the level of Rp 15,899, up 29 points (0.18%). In today’s trading, the US dollar opened at the level of Rp 15,860.
Next, the movement of the US dollar against other currencies weakened. The US dollar weakened against the Chinese yuan and the Singapore dollar. The exchange rate of the US dollar weakened against the Euro by 0.08%, the British pound by 0.04%, and the Chinese yuan by 0.17%. Furthermore, the movement of the US dollar against the Japanese yen weakened by 0.18% and against the won by 0.04%. The currency of the land of Uncle Sam also strengthened against the New Zealand dollar by 0.03% and against the Hong Kong dollar by 0.02%. Currency analyst at Doo Financial Futures, Lukman Leong, stated that the US dollar is likely to strengthen today against the rupiah. The reason is that the market is waiting for the announcement of improving inflation data in the United States, which will weaken the rupiah.
The exchange rate of the US dollar will be in the range of Rp 15,850 to Rp 15,950 during today’s trading.
“The rupiah is expected to weaken against the strengthening US dollar due to surveys showing improved US business sentiment. Investors are also anticipating US inflation data tonight, which is expected to rise from 2.6% to 2.7% YoY,” said Lukman.
