Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto admitted that he felt strange when the 7th President Joko Widodo appointed Bahlil Lahadalia as the Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet. Prabowo even asked about Bahlil’s university.
That confession was made by Prabowo Subianto while giving a speech at the 60th anniversary celebration of the Golkar Party in Sentul, Bogor, on Thursday night (12/12/2024). Prabowo admitted that he was impressed by Bahlil even though he had not known him for long.
“Even though I haven’t known him for long, I have to admit that I am impressed by Mr. Bahlil, truly impressed.” I see his gestures, thoughts, words, and views, and they are quite convincing. “Seriously, seriously, this is serious,” said Prabowo in his speech.
Prabowo then recounted the moment he felt strange because Bahlil was appointed by President Jokowi as the Minister of Investment. However, he said, usually a Minister of Investment is an alumnus of prestigious universities in the world, such as Harvard and Oxford. “When I joined Mr. Jokowi in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, I also found it a bit strange that he was chosen as the Minister of Investment.” Usually, the Minister of Investment is a graduate from a university in America, right? Harvard University or Stanford or Brooklyn. If not America, at least England. Oxford University, Cambridge University, or Sorbonne,” he said.
“This is strange, why did Mr. Jokowi choose Mr. Bahlil as the Minister of Investment, especially since he is from Papua, right? Usually, his position would be Minister of Underdeveloped Village Development, something like that, but he chose Minister of Investment,” he added.
