Jakarta -The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, stated that the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership will soon receive a permit to manage the former Coal Mining Business Agreement (PKP2B) mine. Muhammadiyah will manage the former Adaro Energy PKP2B.

He admitted that the mining management permit is almost complete, but it can be confirmed that Muhammadiyah will be working on the former Adaro mine.

“The former PKP2B, if I remember correctly, most likely belongs to Adaro,” said Bahlil to reporters when asked about the fate of the Muhammadiyah Balikpapan mining permit in East Kalimantan last Saturday (January 14, 2024).

“I’ll check again later, I just forgot what to wait for because there’s so much work,” he continued.

Previously, the Chairman of the Economy, Business, and Halal Industry Division of PP Muhammadiyah, Muhadjir Effendy, stated that they received an offer to manage mines in three PKP2B areas from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, former mines of Adaro Energy, Kideco Jaya Agung, or Arutmin.

“Regarding where we will choose, from what has been announced by Mr. Bahlil, we have already conducted a survey.” “We have already formed an internal survey to look at Adaro, Kideco, Arutmin, so we have already formed a team for our internal survey,” said Muhadjir when met at the Presidential Palace Complex, Central Jakarta, last Friday (10/18/2024).

In line with that, they are also continuing to prepare a special business entity to handle Muhammadiyah’s mining business. There will be one Muhammadiyah mining holding company and also one mining operator company that will be formed.

“I don’t want us to receive the mine, only to find out later that we are not the ones operating it.” So we have formed what is now called strategic corporate and operating corporate, as stated by Muhadjir.

When asked about when the target will start mining, Muhadjir seemed in no hurry. “That’s still far off, we haven’t started mining yet,” he said.

NU’s IUP Has Been Issued In addition to Muhammadiyah, the PB Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) has also accepted the offer to manage the coal land resulting from the land reduction from the PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) mine.

Specifically for NU, Bahlil said the Mining Business License has been issued. Now it’s just up to NU to decide when they want to start the coal mining process.

“It’s already in progress, it’s already finished, the IUP has been issued if I’m not mistaken, so it’s just NU that needs to proceed,” said Bahlil.

According to information from PBNU, the area that will be mined for coal is estimated to reach 26 thousand hectares in the former KPC mining area. NU became the first religious organization to obtain a mining permit from the government.

As is known, the government is indeed offering opportunities for religious community organizations to manage former PKP2B mines. This offer is given in accordance with Government Regulation Number 25 of 2024.
