Jakarta – PDIP officially expelled Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Gibran Rakabuming Raka from party membership. NasDem stated that it is open to accepting anyone, including Jokowi and Gibran.
“NasDem Party is a very open party that can accept anyone who meets the criteria and, of course, the requirements to become a cadre,” said NasDem politician Bestari Barus to reporters on Monday (16/12/2024).
Bestari respects PDIP’s right and authority to dismiss anyone based on its internal party rules. Bestari suspects that Jokowi will be cautious in taking his next political steps.
“However, when it comes to Mr. Jokowi, especially Mr. Gibran who is still serving as the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, they are certainly seasoned political figures who will be careful in making their stance, particularly in choosing which party to align with,” said Bestari.
Bestari said that NasDem has a number of requirements that must be met for someone to register as a cadre. Does Jokowi meet those requirements?
“If NasDem’s requirements are quite easy, age is sufficient, Indonesian citizen, and not involved in legal issues, that’s it. So it’s almost the same (as Jokowi), the age criteria is sufficient, then the domicile is in Indonesia, I think all of that is met.” As for Mr. Jokowi and Mas Gibran, all parties’ requirements will be met, but of course, an active Vice President and a former President have their own calculations,” he continued.
Previously, the PDIP issued dismissal letters for Jokowi, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Bobby Nasution. The dismissal letters for the three were read directly by the Chairman of the PDIP Honorary Board, Komarduin Watubun. The PDIP issued three separate decision letters for the dismissal of Jokowi, Gibran, and Bobby. All three letters were directly signed by the PDIP Chairperson, Megawati Soekarnoputri, and the PDIP Secretary-General, Hasto Kristiyanto.
