Jakarta – The Korlantas Polri has mapped out points of potential traffic congestion during the peak holiday rush for Christmas and New Year. These points are spread across Java Island to Bali.
“From the evaluation of Nataru Pam 2023, there are several vulnerabilities that have been anticipated by the traffic police and related stakeholders,” said the Director of Law Enforcement of the National Police Traffic Corps, Brigadier General Slamet Santoso, to reporters on Friday (20/12/2024).
The traffic congestion hotspots in Bali are around I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport. Meanwhile, in Java, they are spread from the western to the eastern parts of the island, with the peak of the homecoming traffic predicted on December 21, 23, and 28, 2024.
“Such as the traffic congestion on the Ngurah Rai Airport route in Bali, tourist spots (Puncak, Lembang, Malang Raya, and Jogja); routes leading to crossings (Merak-Bakauheni, Ketapang-Gilimanuk) both on toll roads and arterial/non-toll roads,” he said.
Korlantas has anticipated these vulnerable points by deploying security posts and service posts. As well as the placement of patrol teams, mobile lighting, traffic accident analysis teams, and traffic dispersal teams.
“Implementing traffic engineering activities (diverting traffic, contra flow, one way, delaying system, and regulation at rest areas),” said Brigadier General Slamet.
In addition, restrictions on freight vehicles will also be enforced, along with monitoring at the Km 29 Post on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road and the NTMC Korlantas Polri. The public is also expected to always monitor information from NTMC Korlantas, BMKG, and toll information.
The Korlantas advisory is as follows:
- Thoroughly check the health condition of the driver and the vehicle.
- If tired, rest at a rest area or at an available Polri service post.
- Avoid using two-wheeled vehicles for long-distance travel.
