Jakarta – The elected Jakarta governor and deputy governor, Pramono Anung-Rano Karno, do not have any issues with the date of the regional head inauguration. The Pramono-Rano team will follow the inauguration date decided by the government and the KPU.
“In accordance with what was conveyed by the KPU Chairman and the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, we respect and will implement the decision made,” said Pramono-Rano spokesperson, Iwan Tarigan, to reporters on Friday (20/12/2024).
The government has not yet set the date for the inauguration of the elected regional heads in the 2024 Pilkada. The government is still consulting with the Constitutional Court (MK) regarding the schedule for the lawsuit hearings. “The inauguration schedule will still be consulted with the MK, KPU, and the President. This is because there is a synchronization goal that must be adjusted to the stages of the lawsuit at the MK,” said Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Bima Arya, when contacted separately.
The Chairman of the KPU, Mochammad Afifuddin, previously stated that based on Presidential Regulation (Perpres) 80/2024, the inauguration of regional heads will be held in February next year. However, he believes that the timeline for disputes at the Constitutional Court (MK) in that month is likely still in the examination stage. “The presidential regulation on the inauguration is on February 7 and 10. The 7th for Governors, the 10th for Regents,” said Afif in his presentation at the book launch seminar by the election monitoring agency Syndication of Democratic Elections (SPD), Novotel Cikini, Central Jakarta, Friday (20/12).
Afif said that there are currently 300 lawsuits filed with the Constitutional Court (MK). He believes that due to the large number of petitions, the hearings will still be ongoing during the inauguration month. “If you look at the current lawsuits, there are more than 300, ladies and gentlemen.” “If it still follows my assumption, it will be done in early February, and by that time, the dismissal has not been decided, the preliminary trial processes are still ongoing, perhaps just the evidence presentation,” said Afifuddin. “The stages of the Constitutional Court, ideally, are after March 13,” he added.
