Jakarta -Good news for iPhone XS and XR users! Although it has been seven years since its release in 2018, both of these phones are confirmed to still receive updates to iOS 19.
This information was revealed in a report by iPhoneSoft, which claims that all iPhone models currently supporting iOS 18 will also receive iOS 19. Unfortunately, not all Apple devices are that lucky.
Several older iPad models are confirmed not to be able to experience iPadOS 19. iPads with the A10 chip (7th generation, released in 2019) and the 2nd generation iPad Pro (released in 2017) must say goodbye to the latest operating system updates.
In other words, the minimum processor requirement for iPadOS will rise to the A12 chip.
iOS 19: Minor Update?
Apple itself will only announce iOS 19 in the middle of next year at the WWDC 2025 event. There have been no official leaks regarding the new features that will be included.
However, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg previously revealed that Apple’s divided focus on developing iOS 18 features has slowed down the development of iOS 19.
iPhoneSoft even predicts that iOS 19 might only bring a few significant new features.
“It’s still too early to discuss improvements in iOS 19 because several important features promised for iOS 18 have not yet been released, or have only just appeared in the developer beta version,” wrote iPhoneSoft, quoted by Macrumors.
iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 are expected to be available to developers in June 2025, and released to the public around September 2025.
