Jakarta -WhatsApp, the messaging application popular worldwide, routinely updates its software to enhance security and add new features. As part of the update, WhatsApp will end support for a number of mobile phones starting January 1, 2025.
The device is already more than 10 years old. In addition, the phone still runs on Android KitKat or older.
Meta advises affected users to update their phones immediately. This way, they can enjoy the new features that have arrived on WhatsApp.

If you are using one of the phones mentioned above, it is recommended to back up your chats before losing access to the platform permanently. So that when you switch to a new phone, you can still see old conversations on the new device.
Backup is done from WhatsApp Settings, select Chats > Chat Backup then press Backup.
Meta announced something similar for iPhone a few months ago. They ended support for iPhones running iOS 15.1 or earlier. However, the company will maintain support for these handsets until May 2025, as quoted from HDblog.
