Jakarta -The Jakarta Provincial Government has suspended the odd-even policy (gage) in its region on December 25-26, 2024, and January 1, 2025. The suspension of the odd-even policy coincides with the national holidays for Christmas and New Year.
“The odd-even policy on December 25-26, 2024, and January 1, 2025, has been canceled,” said the Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, in a written statement on Tuesday (12/24/2024).
Syafrin explained the removal of the odd-even system in accordance with the DKI Jakarta Governor Regulation Number 88 of 2019 concerning traffic restrictions. The provision states that the odd-even system is not enforced on Saturdays, Sundays, and National Holidays as determined by Presidential Decree.
He reminded road users to be careful while driving. Syafrin also invited all parties to maintain the security and order of the 2024 Christmas celebration.
“To all road users, we urge you to comply with traffic sign regulations, follow the instructions of field officers, and prioritize safety on the road.” “Together, let us maintain the security, comfort, and order of the 2024 Christmas celebration,” he said.
Previously reported, Acting (Pj) Governor of Jakarta Teguh Setyabudi revealed a series of events organized during Christmas and New Year 2025. Teguh hopes that the community can maintain mutual tolerance.
The series of events ranges from Christmas Carol to ‘Jakarta Mendunia’. He wants the events organized by the Jakarta Provincial Government to bring happiness to the entire community.
“Regarding the series of events, there will be a bazaar, then a Christmas Carol, a creative market, and tomorrow we will also visit a Christian orphanage, then in the afternoon we will visit several churches and there will be more in the evening.” And we hope that tolerance remains intact and Jakarta can bring happiness to all elements of its society,” said Teguh at Sarinah, Central Jakarta, Monday (23/12/2024).
For the New Year’s Eve 2025 event, Teguh said the series of events will start from December 30 to December 31, 2024. He announced that there will be a reflection event at Monas attended by 10,000 people on the night of December 30, 2024.
“Then we will also continue for the New Year 2025, various events have been prepared starting from the morning of the 31st, we have a walk in Kota Tua.” We are trying to trace how Jakarta was founded, starting from the old city to several points, and then in the evening, there will be an event called Jakarta Mendunia. There are various activities, including the Jakarta Melody, which we have prepared at several points, and also various genres for the New Year around Thamrin, Sudirman, with the main events at Bundaran HI, Monas, Lapangan Banteng, TMII, Ancol, as well as in Kota Tua and the offices of the Mayor and the Regent of the Thousand Islands,” he said.
“In this event, we also prepared a kind of hope banner where elements of society, community leaders, and religious figures can write down their hopes for Jakarta’s future.” And then in the evening, we will also have a grand launching on how we welcome the five centuries of Jakarta and then we will all calm down together,” he continued.
