Seoul -A flight tragedy recently struck Jeju Air in Seoul, South Korea, on Sunday (29/12). Today, another Jeju Air plane also experienced problems. Its landing gear malfunctioned.

Reported by Reuters on Monday (30/12/2024), this plane departed from Gimpo Airport in Seoul and was heading to Jeju.

However, this aircraft experienced an unidentified landing gear issue shortly after takeoff. The plane had to return to Gimpo Airport in Seoul.

Fortunately, the plane was able to land safely at Gimpo. This information was quoted by Reuters from the Yonhap news agency.

The plane that experienced the problem was numbered 7C101, departing from Gimpo at 06:36 AM local time. Yonhap reported that the issue experienced by the plane today is the same as the problem that caused the plane to explode last Sunday (29/12).

For the Jeju Air flight 7C101 that experienced issues today, there were 161 passengers on board. After landing back at Gimpo, the passengers were then transferred to an alternative unit of the same type, Boeing B737-800, departing at 8:30 AM local time. However, 21 passengers chose not to depart due to safety concerns.

The head of the Jeju Air management support office, Song Kyung-hoon, explained that the captain of the aircraft contacted the ground control center after detecting a signal indicating a problem with the aircraft’s wheel.

“When the landing gear was confirmed to be functioning normally after additional measures, the captain decided to return to the airport for a safety inspection,” said Song at a press conference, as reported by Yonhap.

For comparison, the Jeju Air plane that had an accident on Sunday (29/12) also experienced problems with its landing gear. It is suspected that three landing gears failed to function. Finally, the ill-fated plane landed on its belly and exploded after crashing into a wall. A total of 179 people died and only 2 survived.
