Jakarta -The provision of a 50% discount on PT PLN (Persero) electricity tokens for two months officially took effect from January 1, 2025, until the end of February. However, not all customers are eligible to receive the stimulus provided by the government.
A 50% electricity tariff discount will be received by 81.4 million customers with a capacity of 2,200 volt-amperes (VA) and below. Customers in that category do not need to register or sign up to enjoy the discount.
In detail, customers eligible for a 50% electricity discount rate during the January-February 2025 period are household customers with a power capacity of 450 VA totaling 24.7 million customers, 900 VA totaling 38 million customers, 1,300 VA totaling 14.1 million customers, and 2,200 VA totaling 4.6 million customers.
Therefore, it is very important for the community to know how to check their own electricity meters to determine whether they are eligible for the 50% electricity token discount.
How to Check Power on the Meter to See Recipients of the 50% Electricity Token Discount
- Checking the CL Code on the Electric Meter
One of the simplest ways to check electrical power is by looking at the CL code on the electricity meter. Each electricity meter has a code that indicates its power capacity. Here is how to read the code:
CL 2: Electrical power 450 VA CL 4: Electric power 900 VA CL 6: Electrical power 1,300 VA CL 10: Electrical power 2,200 VA CL 16: Electrical power 3,500 VA
For example, if you see the code CL 6 on the electricity meter, it means the electricity power in the house is 1,300 VA. Because this discount is given only to households with up to 2,200 VA, customers with a CL code above 10 are not entitled to receive the stimulus.
- Using the PLN Mobile App
PLN Mobile is the official application from PLN that provides various information related to electricity. Here are the steps to check your electricity usage using the PLN Mobile app:
- Download and install the PLN Mobile app from the Play Store or App Store. – Open the app and select the “Token and Payment” menu. – Enter the customer ID consisting of 11-12 digits, then select the “Check” option. – In the “Buy Token” menu, customer information will appear, including the status and category of the household’s electricity power.
How to Get a 50% Discount on Electricity Tokens
Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications & TJSL PLN Gregorius Adi Trianto explained that a 50% discount for postpaid customers automatically applies when paying the electricity bill for January and February 2025. For prepaid customers, a 50% discount is obtained when purchasing electricity tokens during the same period.
“For prepaid customers, they only need to pay half the price (50% discount) when purchasing electricity tokens anywhere, whether through PLN Mobile, retail stores, or agents,” said the man commonly known as Greg to detikcom last Monday (23/12/24).
It should be noted that to receive the discount, the public does not need to register or sign up for anything. The discount will be applied automatically by the PLN digital system.
Maximum Limit for 50% Electricity Token Discount
Greg explained that the purchase of electricity tokens will be adjusted according to the applicable regulations. In this case, the maximum electricity usage for customers in the 450 VA to 2200 VA category is equivalent to 720 hours of usage.
“For the purchase of electricity tokens, regulations apply according to the maximum on-time hours and the customer’s installed power,” said Greg.
Here is a rough calculation of the maximum limit for purchasing electricity tokens with a 50% discount according to the current applicable on-peak hours and electricity rates.
- Power 450 VA: Maximum usage 324 kWh (equivalent to 720 hours of operation).
Electricity rate Rp 415 per kWH x 324 kWH = Rp 134,460. This means a maximum discount of Rp 67 thousand per month.
- Power 900 VA: Maximum usage 648 kWh (equivalent to 720 hours of operation).
Electricity tariff Rp 1,352 per kWh x 648 kWh = Rp 876,096. This means a maximum discount of Rp 438 thousand per month.
- Power 1300 VA: Maximum usage 936 kWh (equivalent to 720 hours of operation).
Electricity rate Rp 1,444.70 per kWh x 936 kWh = Rp 1.35 million. This means a maximum discount of Rp 676 thousand per month.
- Power 2200 VA: Maximum usage 1584 kWh (equivalent to 720 hours of operation).
Electricity tariff Rp 1,444.70 per kWh x 1,584 kWh = Rp 2.28 million. This means a maximum discount of Rp 1.14 million per month.
