The U.S. military comprises several branches: the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Space Force. In the same year, the U.S. ranked as the third-largest military globally, with 1.4 million personnel.
According to a 2023 survey, 60% of Americans expressed considerable confidence in their military, although trust has declined since 2009.
Despite this, 63% of respondents believe the U.S. is the world’s number one military power, while 34% said it is one of several global military powers.
In terms of education, U.S. soldiers are not significantly different from those in other countries. Most do not hold college degrees. In 2022, 858,697 active members had high school diplomas, while only 196,850 held college degrees.
