Jakarta – Each member of BLACKPINK is currently busy with their solo projects, but the group comprising Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, and Rosé has been promised to make a comeback this year.
BLACKPINK’s return as a group to the music scene was confirmed by YG Entertainment’s CEO, Yang Hyun Suk. In a video, he mentioned that 2025 will be a significant year for BLACKPINK.
Plans for a world tour are already in motion, which means the group, known for hits like Pink Venom, might release a new album before embarking on the tour. However, there is no confirmed release date yet.
“This will be the year of BLACKPINK’s comeback and the start of their world tour,” said Yang Hyun Suk.
BLACKPINK last released an album titled BORN PINK in 2022. This was followed by a world tour of the same name, which began on October 15, 2022, and concluded on September 17, 2023.
Jakarta was one of the stops on the BORN PINK world tour. BLACKPINK performed at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium with two shows on March 11-12, 2023. Approximately 50,000 fans attended their concerts.
Meanwhile, Jennie and Lisa are gearing up for the release of their first solo albums early this year. Rosé, on the other hand, already released her full album titled rosie in December.
Rosé is enjoying her moment as a solo artist thanks to her viral single APT., a collaboration with Bruno Mars. The song has broken numerous records, including charting on Billboard.
Most recently, Rosé became the first K-Pop artist, solo or group, to break into the top 10 of Billboard’s Radio Songs chart.
The Radio Songs chart tracks the airplay of singles from various genres across U.S. radio stations. As of January 2025, APT. by Rosé and Bruno Mars remains at #10 in its sixth week on the chart.
On the Pop Airplay chart, which measures airplay on the top 40 mainstream radio stations in the U.S., APT. is ranked #7. The song has spent 10 weeks on the Pop Airplay chart.
Rosé also made history as the first K-Pop soloist to reach the top 3 of the Billboard 200 album chart with rosie. Although the album has since dropped to #32, it doesn’t diminish her achievement.
rosie holds the title of the first K-Pop solo female album to remain in the top 50 of Billboard 200 for three consecutive weeks. Rosé is also the second K-Pop soloist, after Nayeon of TWICE, to stay on the chart for three weeks.
