Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto hosted a visit from Japan’s Defense Minister, Nakatani Gen, at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. Nakatani Gen met with Prabowo following a meeting with Indonesia’s Defense Minister, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, at the Ministry of Defense headquarters in Jakarta.
At the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/1/2025), Nakatani Gen arrived at around 1:25 PM WIB. Upon arrival, Nakatani and his delegation proceeded directly into the Palace.
The meeting between Nakatani and Prabowo was held behind closed doors at Merdeka Palace and concluded at approximately 2:48 PM WIB.
After the meeting, Nakatani briefly greeted reporters but refrained from disclosing details of the discussion. He simply described the meeting’s atmosphere as positive.
Earlier, Nakatani Gen visited the Ministry of Defense headquarters in Jakarta to meet with Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin. According to Antara, Sjafrie warmly welcomed Nakatani Gen with a military ceremony at around 9:59 AM WIB.
During the ceremony, both ministers paid respect to each other’s national flags and inspected the troops in the Ministry’s courtyard.
Following the ceremonial welcome, Sjafrie and Nakatani, along with their delegations, entered the Ministry building for a closed-door meeting in the main conference room.
