Jakarta – Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Eddy Soeparno has praised President Prabowo Subianto for being listed among the top 10 most influential world leaders. According to Singaporean media The Straits Times, Prabowo is predicted to further solidify his global influence.
Prabowo is included in the list alongside U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese Premier Xi Jinping.
“During his speech at the APEC Summit in Peru, President Prabowo delivered a clear message that Indonesia is ready to lead initiatives on free and fair trade that favor developing nations. Furthermore, in his meeting with the UN Secretary-General, he affirmed Indonesia’s readiness to spearhead initiatives to address the worsening climate crisis,” Eddy stated in his remarks on Wednesday (8/1/2025).
Eddy emphasized that Prabowo is highly deserving of his inclusion among the top 10 most influential leaders. He added that in various international forums, Prabowo has successfully positioned Indonesia as a significant player in global geopolitics.
“During the D8 Forum in Cairo, President Prabowo underscored the urgency of solidarity among Islamic nations to defend Palestine and eradicate all forms of colonization globally. This reinforces Indonesia’s stance in line with constitutional mandates,” Eddy noted.
Regarding climate leadership initiatives, Eddy expressed confidence that President Prabowo would leverage his influence in international forums to mitigate the effects of the climate crisis in Indonesia by collaborating with developed nations. Eddy, alongside MPR, is also preparing recommendations to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a climate change leader by showcasing the country’s commitment to energy transition and renewable energy development as part of efforts to combat climate change.
Eddy also expressed optimism that Indonesia’s diplomatic strategy would positively impact investment and economic growth. Referring to The Straits Times’ analysis, Eddy mentioned Indonesia’s ambitious goal of achieving an 8% economic growth rate, which reflects Prabowo’s vision of transforming Indonesia into a developed country while capitalizing on its demographic dividend.
