Prabowo Witnesses MoU Signing for 1 Million Housing Project with Qatar

Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for investment in building 1 million homes in Indonesia with Qatar. The Middle Eastern country becomes the first investor in Indonesia’s 3 million housing program.

The signing took place at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/1/2025). The MoU was signed by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, and the Qatari investor Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al Thani.

Also present at the signing were Deputy Minister of Housing and Urban Development (PKP) Fahri Hamzah, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Anis Matta, Chairman of the Housing Task Force Hashim Djojohadikusumo, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, and Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani.

Maruarar stated that this investment is proof of the high level of trust in President Prabowo. He also appreciated Hashim’s efforts in this initiative.

“This is thanks to the high level of trust in President Prabowo, and also the excellent work of Mr. Hashim as the chairman of the housing task force, who has greatly assisted us at the Ministry of PKP,” he said.

“Evidence shows he (Prabowo) is well-received by world leaders, communicates very effectively, and always emphasizes mutual respect, aligned with our foreign policy of being independent and active,” Maruarar added.

He believes this is tangible evidence of Indonesia’s well-functioning foreign policy, leading to an influx of international investors into the country.

“I think this is tangible proof of our foreign policy and international trust, which brings so many investors to our country,” he concluded.
