Jakarta – The tragic case of the death of former One Direction member Liam Payne has entered a new chapter. One of the men suspected of supplying drugs to Liam has finally surrendered to the police.
This was confirmed by the Argentine police on Tuesday (7/1). A 21-year-old man named David Ezequiel Pereyra turned himself in at Barracas, Buenos Aires, on Monday (6/1).
Pereyra was an employee of the Casa Sur Hotel, where Liam stayed before he was found dead after falling from the third-floor balcony of the hotel in October 2024.
Previously, the police had arrested a 24-year-old hotel waiter, Braian Paiz, who was suspected of collaborating with Pereyra to provide drugs to Liam Payne.
In addition, three others, including Liam Payne’s representative in Argentina, the hotel manager, and the head receptionist, had already been charged with murder in connection to this case.
Prosecutors revealed that before Liam Payne fell, the singer had consumed cocaine, alcohol, and prescribed antidepressants. Unfortunately, this left him in an unconscious state when the fall occurred.
Following a series of legal processes and an autopsy in Argentina, Liam Payne’s remains were repatriated to England in early November 2024. He was laid to rest at St Mary’s Church Amersham, London, on November 20, 2024.
The funeral became an emotional reunion for the former members of One Direction. Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan were present to pay their last respects to their bandmate.
Fans around the world also held solidarity events, gathering in various locations to commemorate the late musician.
