Jakarta – Layoffs continue in 2025. President of the Confederation of Nusantara Trade Unions (KSPN) Ristadi revealed that three companies are reportedly preparing for mass layoffs, totaling approximately 4,050 workers.
The companies operate in the footwear, textile, and yarn sectors. According to Ristadi, they are located in Tangerang Regency, Subang Regency, and Bandung Regency.
“At the beginning of 2025, some companies have already planned layoffs. The locations are in Tangerang Regency, Subang Regency, and Bandung Regency,” he said when contacted by detikcom, Monday (13/1/2025).

Ristadi explained that the company in Tangerang is a producer of international brand shoes. It plans to lay off 2,400 workers.
“The one in Tangerang Regency produces shoes for international brands and will lay off 2,400 workers,” he said.

He stated that the company previously had around 24,000 workers but reduced that number to just 19,000 before deciding to lay off an additional 2,400 workers. The company was described as being relatively secretive about the layoffs.

Meanwhile, a company in Bandung Regency plans to lay off approximately 900 workers and close its business. A company in Subang will lay off 750 workers and also shut down its operations.
“The cause remains the same: unsold products and no orders from buyers,” he explained.

He noted that the number of layoffs could be higher than officially reported. Moreover, the Ministry of Manpower has not been proactive in investigating and has instead waited for reports from companies carrying out layoffs.
“This is just from companies that reported to me. There are many others that are secretive and don’t report. I just want to say, in 2025, some workers may enjoy wage increases, but others are at risk of layoffs,” he concluded.
