Jakarta – Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Honda has officially launched the Honda Cross Cub 50 for domestic consumers. Despite its small engine, the ‘misfit’ motorcycle is priced quite high. What are its features?
As reported by Greatbiker on Wednesday (15/1), the Honda Cross Cub 50 has a unique and unconventional appearance. In fact, we call it a ‘misfit’ because the manufacturer has combined two different concepts: a moped and a trail bike.
You might be familiar with the legendary Honda CT125, a trail moped. However, the Honda Cross Cub 50 offers a different concept. The bike uses a single seat like the classic series. Additionally, its large fender and flat exhaust cover add a distinct touch.
Off-road elements are incorporated into the suspension, semi-naked lights, and instrument panel. This combination gives the Honda Cross Cub 50 its ‘misfit’ appearance.
The bike features a backbone frame structure with telescopic front suspension and rear swing arms. Interestingly, its braking system still uses dual drum brakes.
The Honda Cross Cub is essentially a small moped. It comes equipped with a 49cc single-cylinder engine producing 3.7 hp and 3.8 Nm of torque. The power is transmitted to the wheels via a four-speed manual transmission.
In addition to the standard model, the Cross Cub 50 also comes in a special variant called Kumamon. This version features a unique color scheme and bright red side covers.
The Honda Cross Cub 50 is now available in Japan. The manufacturer has priced it starting at 308,000 yen (around Rp 32 million) for the regular variant and 319,000 yen (around Rp 33 million) for the Kumamon variant.
