Jakarta – The name of Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro is trending on social media. On a different note, let’s take a peek into Satryo’s garage.

A peaceful protest in front of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) building has garnered attention. According to detikNews, hundreds of civil servants (ASN) from the Directorate General of Higher Education at Kemdiktisaintek staged a demonstration demanding justice for the dismissal of one of their colleagues, Neni Herlina.

During the protest, the ASN carried banners with slogans such as “State institutions are not Satryo’s and his wife’s private company!” and “We are ASN, paid by the state, working for the state, not servants of a family.” In front of the Kemdiktisaintek building, another banner read, “Mr. President, save us from the minister who gets angry, slaps people, and fires them arbitrarily.”

The minister’s official car, RI 25, was jeered with calls of “step down” as it passed through the parking lot.

The Secretary-General (Sekjen) of Kemdiktisaintek, Togar M. Simatupang, stated that such dynamics are typical in the interaction of organizational restructuring. He emphasized the ministry’s openness to pursuing persuasive measures, such as holding dialogues.

“There is still room for better dialogue, always with open arms, open minds, and the aim of achieving the best resolution,” he stated.
