Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto has revealed that he instructed Finance Minister Sri Mulyani to implement significant budget cuts. Prabowo is committed to realizing massive downstream and industrialization projects that he believes will shock the world.

This statement was made during the inauguration of the electricity project at the Jatigede Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA) in Sumedang, West Java, on Monday (20/1/2025). Prabowo initially mentioned that a budget of up to IDR 48 trillion was needed to complete all the electricity projects planned.

“Dear all, earlier it was reported how many thousands of villages still lack electricity. And it was reported how much we need, IDR 48 trillion to achieve all of that,” Prabowo said.

Prabowo calculated that during his tenure, about IDR 9 trillion per year would be required for the project. He expressed confidence in being able to complete it within his term.

“If IDR 48 trillion is divided by 5, how much is that? IDR 9 trillion? It feels like we can complete it in 5 years. It feels like it,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo stated that he instructed Finance Minister Sri Mulyani to carry out significant budget cuts across all sectors. He emphasized that this approach is intended to support the realization of large-scale downstreaming and industrialization in Indonesia, which he believes will surprise the world.

“Because I received a report from the Finance Minister, my directive to implement savings across all sectors, alhamdulillah, has resulted in substantial savings, enabling our nation to transform towards downstreaming and large-scale industrialization that will shock the world, ladies and gentlemen,” Prabowo stated, met with applause from the audience.
