Jakarta – Ducati Team Manager, Davide Tardozzi, revealed the reason why the Ducati Lenovo factory team decided not to recruit Jorge Martin for the 2025 season. In the competition, Martin had to lose out to Marc Marquez, who was chosen to accompany Francesco Bagnaia on the main Ducati team.
“First, we extend our infinite gratitude to Jorge Martin for everything he has given us,” Tardozzi told El Periodico, quoted by Crash. “Secondly, Ducati always and forever works hard so that Martin can win the title,” Tardozzi added.

Tardozzi doesn’t care if Martin uses the number 1 in his new team, Aprilia Racing. That decision did not damage the relationship between Ducati and Martin. Moreover, Martin has openly thanked the manufacturer from Borgo Panigale.
“And thirdly, we don’t care if Jorge eventually takes the title, that then (number) 1 falls into the hands of Aprilia.” After conveying this, which is very important to us, Martin himself has openly thanked us,” said Tardozzi.

The Reason Why Martin Was Rejected by the Ducati Factory Team
Tardozzi does not deny that choosing Martin and Marquez was a difficult decision. “Even that was reconsidered for days, weeks, and months at Ducati, among all of us,” he said.
Although Martin is a potential racer and could even prove himself by winning the MotoGP 2024, Martin does not possess the four factors that Marquez has. What are those factors?
“We ultimately decided to offer that spot (on the factory team) to Marc because we believe Marc can bring more experience, charisma, speed, and knowledge about this racing category (better) than Jorge,” Tardozzi said again.
“Everyone in the paddock knows that Marc is Marc, right?” he remarked.
