Revenge, Trump Revokes Biden’s Access to Classified Information

Jakarta – U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he has revoked Joe Biden’s security clearance, ending the former U.S. president’s right to receive intelligence briefings that continued after he left office.

“Joe Biden does not need to continue receiving access to classified information,” Trump said on his Truth Social network.

“Therefore, we have immediately revoked Joe Biden’s Security Clearance and stopped his Daily Intelligence Briefings,” he added, according to AFP news agency, Saturday (8/2/2025).

Referring to the slogan from his reality TV show “The Apprentice,” Trump added in capital letters: “JOE, YOU’RE FIRED.”

U.S. presidents have historically been given the right to receive intelligence briefings even after they leave office.

Trump said he made the move because Biden had also revoked his security clearance after winning the 2020 election.

At the time, Biden cited Trump’s “erratic behavior” both before and after the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol by protesters who tried to overturn Trump’s defeat in the election.

In his post on Friday (7/2), Trump claimed that Biden “cannot be trusted” to continue receiving intelligence briefings. He cited a special counsel’s report about classified documents found at Biden’s home, which suggested that the 82-year-old former president suffers from “poor memory.”
