Jakarta – The controversy surrounding Prince Harry’s visa is heating up. After allegations about his immigration status caused a stir, former U.S. President Donald Trump has finally spoken out.
Although he initially considered it, Trump ultimately decided not to deport Prince William’s younger brother.
However, instead of focusing on the immigration case, Trump shifted his attention to Meghan Markle.
“I don’t want to do that. I’ll leave him alone,” Trump said, as quoted by the New York Post.
Then, in his usual blunt manner, Trump added, “He has enough problems with his wife. His wife is terrible.”
So, why has Harry’s visa case become such a big issue? It all started with The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank that accused Harry of concealing his drug use on his visa application.
These allegations surfaced after Harry openly admitted in his memoir Spare that he had used cocaine, marijuana, and psychedelic mushrooms.
According to Heritage, U.S. law prohibits individuals with a history of drug use from entering the country. So, if Harry was granted entry, it suggests he received special treatment from the Biden administration.
“Anyone applying to enter the United States must be truthful in their application, and it is unclear whether that was the case with Prince Harry,” said Nile Gardiner from Heritage.
As a result, they are pushing for Harry’s immigration records to be released, and the case is currently under review by a federal judge in Washington, D.C.
On the other hand, rather than addressing Harry’s visa status further, Trump instead praised his brother.
“I think William is a great young man,” he said.
