Jakarta – The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has set a target of 30,000 nutrition service fulfillment units (SPPG) to provide 82.9 million recipients with free nutritious meals (MBG) this year. However, the budget for providing SPPG land has been cut.

BGN Head Dadan Hindayana stated that the agency will borrow land owned by other institutions, such as the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), National Police (Polri), State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), and regional governments. The budget cut for land acquisition aligns with the directive of President Prabowo Subianto.

“When President visited BGN’s office, he suggested that we borrow land instead. There is plenty of land owned by TNI, Polri, local governments, and BUMN,” Dadan said when met at the DPR RI Building, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday night (Feb 12, 2025).

Dadan explained that to meet the national target, BGN needs 30,000 SPPGs, which will prepare nutritious meal menus (MBG).

Currently, only 246 SPPGs have been established. However, Dadan declined to comment further on the total land area needed to reach the target.

“We need 30,000 nutrition service fulfillment units for 82.9 million people. Right now, we only have 246 units, but it will increase to 700 and then to 30,000,” Dadan explained.

Previously, BGN’s budget was cut by IDR 200.2 billion from the original budget of IDR 71 trillion. This was confirmed by BGN Head Dadan Hindayana.

Dadan stated that the budget cut specifically impacted land acquisition for the construction of nutrition service fulfillment units (SPPG), which support the MBG meal program in various regions.

“Efficiency measures have been applied to both national and regional budgets, and BGN was also affected. Although the reduction is approximately 0.2845%, it resulted in a cut of IDR 200.2 billion,” Dadan said at the DPR RI Building, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (Feb 12, 2025).
