Jakarta, Timerilis.com – Recently, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) together with the JETP Secretariat unveiled the CIPP initiative. This step strengthens Indonesia’s push towards an energy transition. Following the G20 Bali summit in November 2022, the initiative supports Indonesia’s goals for Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and Net Zero Emissions (NZE) by 2060.

Arifin Tasrif, the Energy Minister, believes CIPP is crucial for Indonesia’s energy future. “With CIPP, we are hopeful about reaching our NZE targets,” he said at the Ministry on November 21, 2023. Additionally, shutting down the Cirebon power plant is a key early move in cutting emissions.

Moreover, the Ministry plans to upgrade the power grid, linking Java and Sumatra and improving Sumatra’s network. Erick Thohir, acting as the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investments, highlighted the role of global partnerships. “These partnerships are key to our economic growth,” Erick stated.

Finally, the CIPP initiative is a clear sign of Indonesia’s dedication to renewable energy. The government is set to roll out CIPP with international support, aiming for a just and sustainable shift in energy sources. This initiative marks a significant milestone in Indonesia’s energy policy.
