Acting Director General of Mineral and Coal Bambang Suswantono attended the inauguration of PT SDE's largest coal mine in Indonesia.

Jakarta, Timerilis.com – PT Sumber Daya Energi (SDE) has started operating Indonesia’s biggest underground coal mine. This mine is in Kelumpang Barat, Kota Baru, South Kalimantan. It can produce 20 million tons of coal each year.

Bambang Suswantono, Director General of Minerals and Coal at the Energy Ministry, spoke about the mine. He said it has passed its Feasibility Study and environmental checks. Bambang shared this news at the mine’s opening on Monday (18/12/2023). He expects the mine to help the community and the country.

PT SDE must follow good mining practices, as the government requires. The company should also help and hire people from nearby areas.

Bambang hopes PT SDE will teach local workers the skills foreign workers have. He wants the company to keep hiring locally.

He visited the mine, which covers 18,500 hectares. Bambang wants PT SDE to be an example for others in underground coal mining.

PT SDE has a mining license from overseas investors. This license is good until May 14, 2034.
