Hyungwon of MONSTA X Sets Military Service for November 2023

Hyungwon, a standout member of the hit K-pop group MONSTA X, will start his mandatory military service on November 14, 2023. He announced this news through a heartfelt letter on the group’s fan site on October 20.

The Korea Times shared details from the letter. Here, Hyungwon showed his readiness. “I feel relief, not regret, after seeing my members enlist. I’ve prepared my heart,” he shared.

In South Korea, the law requires all fit men to serve in the military for 18 to 21 months. Hyungwon is no exception.

He didn’t forget to thank MONBEBE, the dedicated fans of MONSTA X. He showed gratitude for their constant support. The star, 29, expects to finish his service on May 13, 2025. He can’t wait to see his fans again. “We’ll smile together on that day,” he promised.

Hyungwon is not the first from MONSTA X to serve. Shownu, the group’s leader, finished his service in April. Right now, Minhyuk, Joohoney, and Kihyun are in the military.

MONSTA X first burst onto the scene in 2015 with “Trespass.” Since then, they’ve wowed fans with their strong style and show-stealing performances. Hits like “Love Killa” (2020) and “GAMBLER” (2021) have cemented their place at the top.

As Hyungwon gets ready for the military, MONSTA X’s legacy in K-pop continues to shine brightly.
