National Police Chief Ensures TNI-Polri to Guard President’s Policy in Papua

Timerilis.com – Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono will continue to guard President Jokowi’s policies in Papua.

“However, there are still challenges ahead,” said Listyo Sigit Prabowo after inaugurating the new Papua Police building through a written statement received by Indonesia Window on Sunday (8/1/2023).

According to Kapolri, one of these obstacles are the parties who may think differently and aren’t sure that Papua will become one of the centers of economic growth outside Java.

President Jokowi said the Kapolri continues to focus on improving the economy and development in Papua. One example of success is the implementation of the XX National Sports Week (PON) in Papua.

“So, as a form of commitment, the government continues to give full attention to the people and the Land of Papua,” Sigit said.

Kapolri said in 2023, the government will continue to carry out priority programs and major projects in the Papua region. In this regard, the Kapolri emphasized the importance of synergy between the TNI, Polri, and all elements of Papuan society.

The priority programs include the development of tourist destinations, urban area development, and agricultural area infrastructure. For major projects, there are airport development and special assignments for health workers in Papua and West Papua.

“This is part of the efforts the government continues to encourage to make Indonesia centric,” he said.

On that occasion, the former Banten Police Chief also instructed the Papua Police Chief to continuously improve the quality of police services after the inauguration of the new Papua Police building.

“All ranks of the Papua Police must improve the quality of service, especially to people who need police services,” said the Chief of Police.

General Sigit emphasized providing services to the community is an obligation to prove that public offices can provide maximum services for the community.
