Jakarta, Timerilis.com – PT Pertamina (Persero) and its subsidiary PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Regional Java have made a major discovery. They found new oil and natural gas reserves in West Java.

The new reserves come from two wells. The East Akasia Cinta (EAC)-001 in Indramayu and East Pondok Aren (EPN)-001 in Bekasi.

Drilling started at the EAC-001 well on September 4, 2023. It aimed at exploring the Sandstone and limestone reservoirs in the Jatibarang Formation. The operation, completed on November 28, 2023, lasted 85 days. The well reached a depth of 2520 mMD. The results were promising. The well produced 30 barrels of oil, 2.08 million cubic feet of gas, and 15.05 barrels of condensate per day.

The EPN-001 well’s drilling began on August 18, 2023. It targeted the Carbonate Reservoir in the Lower Cibulakan Formation. The well reached a depth of 2,590 mMD. Its second DST showed an oil flow of 402 BOPD and a gas rate of 1.09 MMSCFD.

PEP’s VP of Explorations, Indra Yuliandri, spoke about the drilling. He said it shows new ways to find oil and gas in North West Java. PEP’s President Director, Wisnu Hindadari, highlighted the company’s exploration goals. He said these wells show potential in mature areas. They could help increase future oil and gas production.

From January to November 2023, PEP added a lot to Indonesia’s oil and gas output. They produced an average of 69,624 barrels of oil and 838.6 million cubic feet of gas per day.

These discoveries support Indonesia’s energy goals. The government aims for 12 billion cubic feet of gas and 1 million barrels of oil per day by 2030.
