MoU signing between PLN NP President Director Ruly Firmansyah and President and CEO of KHNP Jooho Hwang

Jakarta, Timerilis.com – PT PLN, Indonesia’s leading electricity firm, has joined hands with Korea’s KHNP. They signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) in Dubai, UAE.

This MoU marks a key step. PLN and KHNP will work together to see if nuclear power plants are a good fit for Indonesia. They will focus on Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology.

Darmawan Prasodjo, who leads PLN, said that nuclear energy could be a major player in Indonesia’s future power scene. “With clean energy growing fast in Indonesia, exploring nuclear options is vital,” he noted in Dubai.

Also, Ruly Firmansyah, head of PLN Nusantara Power, shared his positive outlook. He said, “Nuclear plants will be crucial in how we generate electricity.”

Jooho Hwang, the top boss at KHNP, supports Indonesia’s aim for Net Zero Emissions. He said, “This MoU should help us work together on SMR tech, research, and sharing know-how in nuclear energy.”

KHNP, a global leader in nuclear power, brings over 50 years of experience to this partnership.

This move is a big step for Indonesia. It shows the country’s commitment to diverse and sustainable energy sources.
